How do we build a new economy?

Posted on 4/9/18

We often talk about what a new economy—one that is fairer and more democratic—looks like. From worker-owned factories to Standing Rock, and March for Our Lives, we see the seeds of a new society already sprouting in our communities. But to grow, we need to ask not just what a new economy will look like, but how do we get there?

CommonBound 2018: Owning Our Power, NEC's biennial national conference, will be focused on this question of “How?” and we want you to chart a path forward with us. Register today to join us in St. Louis, MO, June 22-24.

CommonBound will bring together 700+ activists, organizers, and visionaries from across the new economy movement including New Economy Coalition’s 200+ member network.

11 network gatherings and dozens of workshop sessions will take on some of the most pressing issues facing us today. Here are just a few of the topics they’ll cover:

  • Cultural organizing; building a new economy for and by artists

  • Community organizing through the lens of energy democracy

  • Community-led tools for fundraising and investing to scale new economy institutions

  • ...and many more!
